She is a goddess of free nature and independence, guiding the way with her torches and accompanied by her hounds. We currently have two pieces honoring Artemis, both depicting her sacred deer in hand-painted ceramic: A candle alcove and decorative dish.

Candle Alcove: This candle alcove depicts a wild nature scene with flying birds and a deer running, calling in the aspect of Artemis Elaphia, the goddess of hunting deer, where she was celebrated with an ancient Greek festival with honeyed cakes in the shape of stags. The candle calls in the aspect of Artemis Phosphorus, who guides the way through the wilderness with her torches. It is made of ceramic and hand-painted in Spain, originally for the Ethan Allen furniture company. It includes a candle holder in the center that illuminates the nature scene painted on the backsplash. Around the candle holder is a small amount of space to tuck in additional offerings to Artemis such as stones, arrow heads, and other small trinkets. This piece measures 8x6.5x4.5 inches; the candle holder can house candles that are 1-1.75 inches wide.

Decorative Dish: This small commemorative plate is lovingly hand-painted to depict a wounded deer, with arrow still in its side, lying down and surrounded by plants. It is made by the Anfora Agueda company in Portugal. The back of the dish includes the company name, verification that it was hand-painted in Portugal, and its production number in its original series: 24. With the motifs of the ceramic plate, this piece also calls in Artemis Elaphia, the goddess of hunting deer, as well as Artemis of Ephesus, the Mother of the Wild. It measures 3.25 inches in diameter and 0.4 inches tall.

As animists, we find second-hand items have a unique potency when used in altar-crafting. These items, once cherished by their original owners, have since been given up for one reason or another. They long to be loved once more and nearly sing with joy when they're honored by being included in an altar or place of worship. Pre-written prayers can be used as a chant during meditation, when using prayer beads and rosaries, and as a familiar pathway to connect with a given deity. Freeform prayer in the form of speaking directly to your deity with whatever is on your mind can be uncomfortable if it is not a familiar act. To open that door, we have crafted our prayers to ease anyone into prayer with pagan deities with prayers that are pre-written and have the blessing of the deity they are created for. Reach out to your deities with ease and confidence, knowing that their ears will recognize the familiar words.
