The Lord of the Forest - Cernunnos Rosary
The Lord of the Forest - Cernunnos Rosary
The Lord of the Forest is a one of a kind rosary that includes vintage beads and handmade pendants. The centerpiece is handmade and features moss with copper leaf. The pendant at the bottom features a stag with a triquetra interwoven in his horns. It is framed by vintage Celtic square knotwork beads and hollow bell-shaped beads.
It was made to honor the God of the Forest, The Horned God and Lord of the Animals, Cernunnos. He is a god of death and rebirth, alive with us as the Green Man in spring and summer before becoming the Hunted in the fall before he travels to the Underworld in the winter to return to the dirt of the Earth before he is reborn in spring. To seek a communion with the land is to seek a relationship with Cernunnos.
Three is a sacred number for Cernunnos who is at once Father, Son and Wild Spirit. The centerpiece drops into three beads and into the triquetra in the middle of the stag's horns as a full representation of Him. Copper was chosen in the centerpiece as the one metal that the fey associate with surrounding moss, showing his connection to the unseen magic in nature. The hollow bell-shaped beads allow for airflow, as we associate Cernunnos with messages riding on the wind.
Each bead is hand wrapped in wire and the rosary fits comfortably over the head to be worn.
