Custom Apothecary Cabinet

Our custom apothecary drawers/cabinet are made to be a spirit home and place of honor for the herbs and plant spirit allies that are a central part of witchcraft for many practitioners. Each drawer is wood burned with a botanical illustration drawn by hand by one of your local tricksters, who is a trained science illustrator. Each drawing is then hand painted to reflect the colors of the plant to fully bring the illustration to life and finished with the name of the plant to label the drawer. The top of the cabinet is painted a solid color; the bottom matches in base color and features a folk art inspired border on the front. The colors of the hand-painted border and background are chosen to match the botanical illustrations.

Each cabinet has three drawers included with the dimensions below. Each drawer can feature either one or two herbs on it and will include the name of each herb wood-burned inside the pull-tab. There are two options below: 3 herb and 6 herb. Both options use the same cabinet and include three drawers. A 3 herb cabinet will have one illustration per drawer, while a 6 herb cabinet will have two illustrations per drawer. Each piece includes 3-6 illustrations that will be hand-drawn, wood burned, hand painted, and sealed to protect the art. This is a multi-step process that requires time factored in for art to be created and applied, as well as for paints and sealants to dry.

Our priority with every custom piece is that it reflects your personal practice and relationship with the spirits you're honoring. When placing your order, please provide 3-6 plant spirits you would like to honor in this cabinet in the Deity/Spirit Details field as well as any preferences you might have for the folk art border. This can include color preferences as well as motifs you'd like incorporated into the border. We ask that you include this information in your order so we may begin work on your piece as soon as possible. Processing time for these custom works is 4-8 weeks; delays in receiving your preferences can result in longer processing times. Please note that we are unable to accommodate changes to herb selection after purchase; we ask that you provide a selection of herbs that you are confident you would like to honor in this piece. Each illustration is burned directly onto the drawer and cannot be changed once applied.  Please also note that it we have a limited ability to customize the botanical art, as they are scientific illustrations that accurately depict the plant. Please also know that we will do our best to accommodate motif requests but that simple imagery translates best into folk art and certain themes may not be able to be executed.

The preview image is of a sample cabinet. The cabinet you receive will be made with the same physical cabinet and pull-tabs, but the artwork and paint will vary. The illustrations will be in the same style but depict the herbs you choose. The paint (on the top of the cabinet and bottom border) will vary in color and pattern as they will be designed to match the illustrations of your chosen herbs.

Many herbs used in witchcraft are most easily accessed in a dried, ground form from metaphysical stores or online distributors. Some herbs may not grow in your area of the world or only grow in very wild areas that are hard to access. Harvesting or growing herbs individually is a large investment of time and energy that not everyone has available. As such, many practitioners may not be familiar with what the herbs that they use look like while growing, as was the case for one of your local tricksters at first. We have found that a deeper understanding of the plant itself helps a practitioner connect more deeply with the plant spirit, often leading to better results when working with that plant. We encourage using these illustrations to deepen your understanding of plants you already work with, as a focus while meditating, and a way to connect more deeply with plant spirits.

The illustrations on these drawers are not comprehensive guides to identifying these plants, and should not be used as such. In no way do we advocate for using these illustrations as a base for finding and foraging plants in the wild. Plants are very difficult to identify, especially at different stages of their growth, and a non-toxic plant can easily be confused for a poisonous or toxic one. These illustrations are for informational and spiritual use solely, and should not be used as a reference in any foraging activities.
