CUSTOM Travel Altar/Altar Box

If you're looking for a custom altar box to a deity or spirit close to your heart, the Trickster's Apothecary is here for you. These altar boxes are great for limited spaces, broom closet altars, and those looking to establish a new altar. We do extensive research on every commission to find historical information on worship and practices on each deity and take into consideration every commissioner’s personal associations as well. For us at The Trickster’s Apothecary, we understand how important personal connection is to one’s worship and that is the main focus of our shop as queer pagans who have had to hide all parts of our identity at one point or another. There is no greater honor for us than to utilize our combined skills in order to help forge these personal connections, as we understand how everyone can see a different aspect of their chosen deity that most speaks to them. We understand that the deities closest to your heart, or the specific face of them you cherish most, might be the hardest to find–especially for deities with less historical information available. We want to be able to assist in whatever way possible to create a path that brings you your authentic spiritual joy. 

Depicted above are custom altar boxes we've made previously; they are representative of the type of altar box you will receive. Please know that your custom altar box will never be listed in our shop, as it will be made to reflect your unique practice and relationship with that deity. In the future, you may see a travel altar available honoring that deity or specific epithet that shares some elements with your altar box, but none will contain all the same offerings. Please rest assured knowing that your unique altar will never be offered in our shop; it will be handcrafted to suit you and you alone. The ONLY exception to this is our Early Release option, which allows you to purchase a travel altar to a deity already represented in our shop who does not currently have a travel altar available. Though we intend to make travel altars dedicated to every deity represented in our shop, limited time and manpower means that this can sometimes take much longer than we'd like. This option allows you to purchase what will become our standard travel altar to that deity at our regular pricing with all the offerings that would normally be included. As such, Early Release altars will be made available in our shop later and are not customizable.

We have the following custom altar options available:
- Early Release: what will become our standard travel altar to a deity already represented in our shop whose travel altar is not yet available. Each is housed in a 2.25x3.5in black tin box with artwork on top representative of the deity it honors. All of our travel altars include herbal offerings, a small set of prayer beads, a consumable offering like a tealight candle, and handmade altar tiles depicting the deity and/or their symbology. As you are purchasing an early release of our standard travel altar, almost all of the contents will be available in future travel altars to that deity. To honor you going out of your way to purchase the altar early, one of the standard offerings in your travel altar will be upgraded. This will be a unique offering not available in future versions of that travel altar and may include things like keychains, talismans, vintage items, and other handmade offerings. 
- Custom Travel Altar: this option contains a combination of vintage items, natural gemstones, herbs and/or bones in addition to handmade altar tiles that can bring forth associations of your chosen deity. Each box also comes with iconography of the deity and a small set of prayer beads that connect to the deity's mythology or associations. Many will also include a consumable offering such as incense or a tealight candle. These are in standard 2.25x3.5in black tin boxes with artwork on top representative of your chosen deity. We will work with you regarding what elements you'd like included and what aspects of the deity feel most important to you to have represented. 
- Custom Vintage Altar Box (small): this option substitutes our standard black tin boxes with a larger vintage box from our stock. The larger size of these boxes allow us to pack a larger quantity and variety of items inside. Each includes the range of offerings listed in the above options, with the ability to house larger statuary and vintage items such as small scrying mirrors, offering vessels, etc. The vintage altar boxes we have available will be pictured above shortly and are up to 3 inches in diameter/width. They range from boxes made from porcelain, hand carved wood, glass, ceramic, shells, and bone. Please message us for photos of our available options at this time. 
- Custom Vintage Altar Box (large): this option includes all elements of the Custom Vintage Altar Box (small) option, but with even more space for additional offerings or larger sized pieces. The options we have available are depicted above and are all over 3 inches in diameter/width. Please message us for photos of our available options at this time. 

Personalization information:

Our priority with every custom piece is that it reflects your personal practice and relationship with the deity/spirit you're honoring. When placing your order, please provide any relevant details in the personalization field. This can include a specific epithet of the deity you'd like to be invoked, imagery or symbols you would like included, an aspect of the deity you work most closely with, etc. We want your altar box to speak to your personal practice and relationship with the deity in question as much as possible; to do so, we ask that you include this information in your order so we may begin work on your piece as soon as possible. Processing time for these custom works is 4-8 weeks; delays in receiving your preferences can result in longer processing times. Please note that it may not be possible to include every symbol, image, or detail listed in your preferences, however we will work with you to ensure that your piece speaks to the parts of the deity most important to you. 

We ask that you include all relevant information in the personalization field before check out. If you would like to have an ongoing discussion about your piece, see progress photos, or add additional details that you remember later, we ask that you reach out to us directly. We will respond using whatever format you reach out to us with. If using our contact form, we ask that you provide your preferred method of contact for an ongoing conversation. When we receive your order, we will begin work on your piece with whatever information you provide at check out. Please be sure to include all relevant information as this will be the what we base your altar box on unless we hear further details from you. 

If you would like to round out your altar, we would be happy to make prayer cards and rosaries that can be utilized alongside your altar. Call in the face of your deity closest to your heart with a prayer lovingly crafted in their honor and a rosary to pray it with while working with your new altar!
