Our Fortuna rosary honors the Roman goddess of Luck and Fate, Fortuna. Each bead is wrapped by hand with intention to call in this goddess of abundance. Wear or pray with this rosary to call in the guiding hand of Fortuna, that she may steer your fate in a favorable direction.
We have two varieties of this necklace currently available: Opulence and Prosperity. The differences are as follows.
Our Opulence rosary is handmade with 5 sections of 5 green aventurine beads, all strung on gold tone stainless steel. The number 5 was chosen for its harmony and abundance rooted in stability. Green aventurine was chosen for its connections with prosperity and luck. Between each section of green aventurine is a small length of gold tone stainless steel figaro chain that frames a genuine freshwater pearl. Pearls are chosen for Fortuna's connection with the wealth of the sea, seen in her sacred symbols of a ship's rudder and fishes, as well as for their apotropaic associations to ward off bad luck. The central cross piece of this rosary is a vintage brass horseshoe, long associated with bringing good luck and warding off bad luck. Beneath this hangs the vertical section, with three green aventurine beads (with the number 3 chosen for its manifestation qualities) framed by 2 additional freshwater pearls. The pendant at the bottom is a cornicello, or little horn. This symbol is a staple in Italian folk magic, thought to bring abundance and ward away both bad luck and the evil eye. Its connection with Fortuna lies in its presentation, which is highly reminiscent of the ancient rendition of the horn of plenty Fortuna cradles in her arms. The loop portion of this rosary, that can be put over one's head to wear as a necklace, is 29 inches, with an additional 9 inches dangling vertically from the top of the cross piece to the end of the pendant.
Our Prosperity rosary is handmade with 5 sections of 5 green aventurine beads, all strung on gold tone stainless steel. The number 5 was chosen for its harmony and abundance rooted in stability. Green aventurine was chosen for its connections with prosperity and luck. Between each section of green aventurine is a small length of gold tone stainless steel figaro chain that frames a glass pearl. Pearls represent Fortuna's connection with the wealth of the sea, seen in her sacred symbols of a ship's rudder and fishes, as well as for their apotropaic associations to ward off bad luck. Glass pearls are made from sand, the same substance that forms natural pearls when caught in the shell of a mollusk. Here, glass pearls are chosen for overcoming hardship, rising above it and into prosperity. The central cross piece of this rosary is a vintage brass horseshoe, long associated with bringing good luck and warding off bad luck. Beneath this hangs the vertical section, with three green aventurine beads (with the number 3 chosen for its manifestation qualities) framed by 2 additional glass pearls. The pendant of this rosary is a ship's wheel, calling in a more modern form of the ancient ship's rudder Fortuna was so often depicted holding. This pendant invites Fortuna to steer our Fate toward kinder waters and out of stormy seas, making it particularly well suited for those experiencing difficulty. The loop portion of this rosary, that can be put over one's head to wear as a necklace, is 26.5 inches, with an additional 7.5 inches dangling vertically from the top of the cross piece to the end of the pendant.
There are a variety of metals included in this piece, including: gold tone stainless steel and brass. Though stainless steel is tarnish resistant, these metals can tarnish with use, but this can be avoided with care. To avoid tarnishing, avoid contact with liquids whenever possible and let any cosmetics, lotions, or perfumes/colognes dry completely before putting on your necklace. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Keeping your jewelry in a sealed container, such as a jewelry box or plastic bag, can prevent tarnishing by limiting exposure to air, sunlight, heat, and moisture. This is best done if air is pushed out of any plastic bag before sealing and with something included to remove moisture, such as a silica pack or anti-tarnish strip. This is not an exhaustive list of anti-tarnish measures, nor are these measures a guarantee that tarnishing will not occur when worn.
