Our Grave Flowers are lovingly handmade altar tiles created as offerings to the ancestors. Each one includes a real flower that has been identified, sustainably foraged, and dried by hand by your local trickster spirits in the PNW. The flower is framed in gold and backed by a deep black, reminiscent of the grave. Many traditions and cultures include the tending of graves to honor the Dead. This can include keeping the grave clear of trash and weeds as well as offerings of food, drink, incense, candles, and of course, flowers. Practitioners may not always have access to the graves of the ancestors they honor and many ancestors were not buried at all. As grave-tending is such an important part of honoring the Dead and ancestor worship in many traditions, we’ve created our Grave Flowers as a way to tend the graves of our ancestors whose physical graves either don’t exist or are inaccessible. While offering fresh or dried whole flowers may not be achievable or sustainable in all living spaces, our Grave Flowers are floral offerings that can be placed on any ancestor altar, large or small.
Each of our Grave Flowers can be worked with as both an offering flower and a Grave that can be tended for ancestors whose graves we cannot access and tend physically. Place one of our Grave Flowers on your ancestor altar in offering—then continue to tend them, as you would a grave. Anoint them with oils or perfumes, sprinkle holy waters onto their surface, or pass them through the smoke of incense burned in offering—anything that speaks to your heart and your relationship with the ancestors you offer them to.

Please note that the grave flower you receive may differ slightly in appearance from the photograph. As all flowers utilized and foraged and dried by hand, they each come out looking slightly different, making your piece unique to you and the spirit you offer it to. Some may have leaves of the plant alongside the flower, others may not due to availability. We pray to each plant, asking it to dry in the shape it would like to present itself to you when you receive it. We hope yours brings you joy!
