Our Spill the Tea ritual candle is the first in our line of ritual candles. Made with high quality coconut-soy wax, these candles feature a hand-blended scent created in honor of and guided by the queer ancestors. These candles are inspired by American queer ancestors and many years of tradition in gay bars and drag balls—they are scented with lavender, lime, and tobacco in their honor. Lavender is for the lavender menace and the sweet softness of queer joy. Lime is for the bright, sour note that brings an extra queer flair to lavender’s sweetness, a touch of sour shade thrown, and the lime wedge on the side of a drink glass. Tobacco is both a traditional offering to the Dead, included to feed the ancestors, and the haze of a gay/leather bar filled with cigarette smoke. Each is lovingly topped with lavender as a final offering to the ancestors

These candles are made in vintage tea cups; the vintage nature and age of the cups helps to call in death energy to fuel connection with the ancestors. They also work as a conduit for the ritual use of the candle in building a practice of queer ancestor veneration—‘spilling the tea’ with the queer ancestors. For use building a relationship with queer ancestors, light the candle, call them in, and have yourself a kiki. Spill the tea, introduce yourself, bond with your queer ancestors over the candle as it burns.

We have different styles available, with some including the teacup coaster; they are listed below with the dimensions of each cup:

-Rudolf Watcher: Made with an espresso sized cup by Rudolf Watcher “RW” Bavaria.
- Rose Chintz (Coaster Included): this candle measures 3.5x3.5x2.5 inches while the coaster measures 5.75x5.75x1 inches. The teacup is the Rose Chintz teacup by Johnson Brothers England.

- Hanging Pansy is a hanging teacup patterned with pansies on the front with a ceramic coaster backsplash to protect any nearby surfaces with a rose-gold chain attached to hang. For safety, we recommend placing the candle inside a large, fire-safe vessel like a cauldron and hanging on a wall when not in use; we cannot recommend burning this candle while it is hanging on dry wall. Please BE MINDFUL of wick length: keep the wick to 1/4 inch in length to ensure the flame does not grow higher than the backsplash for safety. This candle is 5.75x5.75x2 inches.

-Flourish large: Made with a vintage teacup with flourishes throughout the cup and handle.

-Flourish small: Made with an espresso cup sized teacup with flourishes throughout the cup and handle.

Please practice safe candle burning practices while using these candles. Leave no candle burning unattended. Be mindful of flammable objects near burning candles such as curtains, wall hangs, dried herbs, etc. Keep away from pets and children. Keep wicks trimmed to 1/4 inch for a better, longer lasting burn and safety with flame height. Only burn on a level, fire-resistant surface. Do not burn candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Stop use when only 1/4 inch of wax remains.
