Malocchio Evil Eye Earrings

Our Malocchio Earrings are inspired by Italian folk magic wards against the evil eye, or malocchio. Each earring style includes elements that is a ward against the evil eye in Italian folk magic including: red coral, Nazar eyes, gold, silver, seahorses, roosters, pearls, and the cornicello. Red coral, seahorses, and pearls call in the protection of the Siren, a long time ward against il malocchio in Italian folk magic. Nazar eyes have warded off the evil eye since the Assyrian era. The rooster is a fearless defender, fighting off ill luck in Italian tradition. The cornicello both holds good luck, embodying the horn of plenty, and wards off bad luck; it's said to be able to 'unscrew the evil eye.' Gold calls in solar protection, while silver calls in the safety of the moon. 

We have the following styles available:

• Nazar Heart: Hanging from a hypoallergenic gold-plated brass lever-back hoop, these earrings feature a genuine freshwater pearl above a glass Nazar-eye heart. The heart itself is also an protective symbol against the evil eye, calling in Eros and the protective power of Love. 
• Cornicello: Hanging from a hypoallergenic gold-plated brass lever-back hoop, these earrings feature a clamshell (another symbol of the Siren) made of two genuine freshwater pearls with a red coral bead in the center. Underneath, a cornicello dangles. 
• Seahorse: Hanging from a hypoallergenic silver-plated brass lever-back hoop, these earrings feature small seahorse charms. One side features red coral, while the other features a Nazar eye bead. 
• Rooster: Hanging from a hypoallergenic silver-plated brass lever-back hoop, these earrings feature small rooster charms. One side features red coral, while the other features a Nazar eye bead. 

Every bead in these pieces is wrapped by hand with intention. Each one is moved through protection motions, the segnature typical of Italian folk magic, before being placed in our Malocchio blessing box. This box is handmade and hand-painted in Italy before it was rescued by your local tricksters, having been discarded by its original owners. Now, it is filled with talismans, amulets, and materia magica all used in Italian folk magic to protect against il malocchio, the evil eye.

Each earring utilizes high quality lever backs made of sterling silver plated brass or gold plated brass; they are lead and nickel free for those with sensitive ears. The materials can tarnish with use, though this can be avoided with care. To avoid tarnishing, avoid contact with liquids whenever possible and let any cosmetics, lotions, or perfumes/colognes dry completely before putting on your necklace. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Keeping your jewelry in a sealed container, such as a jewelry box or plastic bag, can prevent tarnishing by limiting exposure to air, sunlight, heat, and moisture. This is best done if air is pushed out of any plastic bag before sealing and with something included to remove moisture, such as a silica pack or anti-tarnish strip. This is not an exhaustive list of anti-tarnish measures, nor are these measures a guarantee that tarnishing will not occur when worn.
