The Gorgon’s Gaze hanging ward is inspired by the Gorgoneion: an apotropaic talisman featuring the head of Medusa that has been in use since antiquity. She is depicted here with her iconic serpent-hair, but also the wings at her temples that are seen in ancient Roman depictions, such as mosaics and frescoes. Wards depicting Medusa have also been used historically to ward off il malocchio (the evil eye). The Gorgon’s Gaze talisman features a gold attachment on the back to hang easily on a wall. There are two styles available: Cave Shadows and Cave Wall. Both are in a matte finish, with Cave Shadows being charcoal black and Cave Wall being made with real bonded alabaster.
This talisman measures 4:5 x 3.5 x 1.5 inches.
