Our Loki’s Escape rosary/pagan prayer beads is designed with love to tell the tale of Loki’s attempted escape from the Aesir before is he’s bound beneath the earth, after the death of Baldr and Lokasenna have occurred. Knowing the Aesir are chasing him, Loki plans to turn into a fish and escape in a river. Trying to imagine how they might attempt to catch him and foil their place in advance, Loki creates the first net. He then burns his creation, turns into a fish, and escapes. However, when the Aesir reach the area where he created the net, they discovet the net’s ashes. Reading the pattern of the ash, they recreate the net and catch him. This rosary honors Loki’s ingenuinity, creativity, and cunning under pressure, as well as his associations with water. This tale teaches us the importance of creative problem solving, and of erasing our tracks so we can’t be found by those who wish us ill. When you wear this rosary, may you ever escape having your plans foiled and your enemies never catch you!
This tale is rendered in the following ways. Each rosary section features two sections of Mother of Pearl “fish bones” separated by hematite for grounding, and embodying the ashes left by his rushed attempt to cover his tracks. Further echoing the ash ties, the hematite beads on the outside of each section feature splatters of red and gold to call in his sacred flames. Between each section are blue glass beads, calling in the water he sought safety in. The center cross piece of this rosary is a blue ceramic carved fish, while the pendant features a vintage circular net. This net has a red glass “blood” drop suspended, embodying Loki’s loss that we learn from, to not make his same mistakes. Beneath this pendant are 3 fossilized sea urchin spines for self-defense, even when hiding in the safety of water.
This rosary measures 28 inches in the loop worn around the neck and 7.5 inches from the top of the cross piece to the bottom of the pendant.
