These card holders are handmade using oak and purple heart wood and are ideal for holding tarot cards after being pulled, altar cards for display on shrines, and prayer cards as they're being prayed. Our purple heart card holders have a beautiful, natural purple tone to the wood; each is narrow and simple. Our oak card holders are wider and feature untouched bark on one edge. Each of them has a unique design wood burned by hand with sacred imagery dedicated to different pantheons. Below is a little bit of information about each woodburned design.
We have the following options available:
Purple heart Large: 4.75 x 1.4 x 0.8 inches; please note there may be slight variations on each as they are handmade with genuine wood.

Oak Scarab: 3.5 x 2.5 x 0.8 inches - The scarab is a symbol of death and rebirth in Egyptian mythology and also represents the scarab god, Khepri. The scarab represents the transformation of a mummy into the spirit that lives eternally.
Oak Winged Roman Lion: 3.8 x 2.75 x 0.8 inches Horned and winged lions were often displayed alongside the griffin to represent strength and prowess. The horned winged lion was seen alongside the griffin in one of the temples of Apollo and was also the symbol of the city of Venice in ancient times, more recently associated with St. Mark.
Oak Book of Kells (Bird): 3.85 x 2.6 x 0.8 inches - The Book of Kells is significant for having some of the few written stories of Celtic tradition written and preserved alongside the four gospels of Christ. Oak Book of Kells (Dragons): 4.6 x 3 x 0.8 inches - The Book of Kells is significant for having some of the few written stories of Celtic tradition written and preserved alongside the four gospels of Christ. The book is filled with figures of humans, animals and mythical creatures illustrated alongside Celtic knots.
Oak Shrine of St. Patrick's Bell: 2.6 x 2.5 x 0.8 inches - The design is based off of one of the snakes or dragons that are located on the Bell Shrine that houses an iron hand-bell traditionally associated with the Irish patron saint Saint Patrick. St. Patrick is associated with the fey as he meets Oisin, a poet who marries the fairy, Niamh. When Oisin falls off of his horse when revisiting Ireland, he knows he is unable to return back to Tir na nOg, and recalls his travels and tales of the fey to St. Patrick.
