Aphrodite Areia Rosary/Prayer Beads - Aphrodite the Warlike

Our Aphrodite Areia rosary is handmade in devotion to Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of Love, in her aspect as Aphrodite Areia: Aphrodite the Warlike. Each bead is wrapped by hand with intention to welcome in Aphrodite. Wear this rosary to bring the energy of Aphrodite Areia, who not only takes up arms to defend herself, to claim her due, to fight for what she knows to be right–but who exits the war victorious.

This rosary is made with glass pearls wrapped on gold-tone stainless steel, calling in both the beauty of the pearl and the grit that forms it—the same sand glass is made from. Each section includes 5 beads, as 5 is a number associated with Aphrodite, each separated by a single garnet glass bead: a drop of blood, spilled in the fight, suspended on the chain. The cross-piece is a handmade clear resin coin with rose petals and gold. Rose, here, is a symbol of self-defense stemming from self-love. As the rose unapologetically grows thorns, drawing blood shamelessly from those that would harm it, Aphrodite Areia teaches us to defend ourselves without guilt for hurting those who take active steps to harm us. Gold leaf is for our self-worth, the golden light in our hearts that the rose’s thorns defend from those who would smother it. The pendant is a handmade depiction of Aphrodite Areia, made with iron oxide to call in the rust of used weapons and spilled blood. Though she goes to war, armored and helmeted, she remains her beautiful self, with her gorgeous hair spilling from beneath her helmet and a necklace visible above her armor.

This rosary measures 25.5 inches around the neck and 8.5 inches from the top of the cross piece to the bottom of the pendant.

There are a variety of metals included in this piece, including: gold-tone stainless steel and lead/nickel free alloys. Gold-tone stainless steel is tarnish-resistant and will withstand greater exposure to sunlight and water, however, tarnishing of other metals in the necklace can be avoided with care. To avoid tarnishing, avoid contact with liquids whenever possible and let any cosmetics, lotions, or perfumes/colognes dry completely before putting on your necklace. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Keeping your jewelry in a sealed container, such as a jewelry box or plastic bag, can prevent tarnishing by limiting exposure to air, sunlight, heat, and moisture. This is best done if air is pushed out of any plastic bag before sealing and with something included to remove moisture, such as a silica pack or anti-tarnish strip. This is not an exhaustive list of anti-tarnish measures, nor are these measures a guarantee that tarnishing will not occur when worn.
