The Gorgon's Gaze is a rosary handmade in devotion to Medusa, Queen of the Gorgons and a powerful goddess in her own right. Her head, crowned in snakes with wings at her temples, has been an apotropaic symbol for centuries in frescoes and mosaics, and is a potent defense again il malocchio (the evil eye). This rosary can be worn to keep il malocchio away, as well as in devotion to Medusa herself. Every bead is wrapped by hand and worked with intention.

Black lava rock is strung on sturdy stainless steel, for Medusa’s spine of steel and the stone that is all that remains of those who would do her harm. Between each stone section are steel eyes to stare down any evil eye that would gaze at you, turning it to stone before it can do harm. The cross piece shows a serpent, like those that crown Medusa, wrapped around a crescent moon—a symbol traditionally included on the Cimaruta, an Italian folk magic ward against il malocchio. The rosary is completed by a depiction of Medusa herself as the pendant.

The Gorgon's Gaze measures 26 inches around the neck and 9.5 inches from the top of the cross piece to the bottom of the pendant.
