Our Illuminated scrying mirrors are lovingly crafted from vintage frames, working with the spirit of the frame to rebirth it into a partner in divination. These frames feature medieval motifs, seen in illuminated manuscripts or the monasteries they were crafted in. They show a strong preference for scrying with Wise Dead–learned ancestors who choose to remain accessible after Death to guide the Living. These frames are fond of being called on for the wisdom of the Dead and the expertise of the masters in any given tradition. They are well suited for calling on experts in our given fields (master blacksmiths, expert musicians, etc.) and mystics who spent their lives delving into the Mysteries (saints, priestexes of long-forgotten traditions, etc).
We have three styles available: Monastery Window, Vestibule Footpath, and Illuminated Manuscript.
- Monastery Window features a curling frame carved and painted to give the appearance of carved wood, as if framing the window of a monastery; it is 9.25x5 inches and the scrying surface measures 5.25x2.75 inches.
- Vestibule Footpath features an alternating herringbone pattern with wood and a central star made of ivory reminiscent of tile patterning; it is 6.5x6.5 inches and the scrying surface measures 3.5x3.5 inches.
- Illuminated Manuscript features a silver-tone metal frame with an embossed floral pattern, reminiscent of medieval illuminated manuscripts; it is 10.25x8 inches and the scrying surface measures 6.5x5 inches.
All our scrying mirrors are prepared magically and with intention throughout each step of the crafting process. We begin preparing our materials by cleansing each element with a hand-blended mix of purifying waters. Once the scrying surface has been prepared, it is first marked with a handcrafted bindrune to promote psychic clarity and protection. This bindrune is carefully blended into the deep black of the scrying mirror using 3 separate layers of paint. This ensures an evenly black surface while infusing the mirror with the magic of the number 3, known for its mystical properties, and gently diffusing the magic of the bindrune throughout the entire scrying surface. Once each element has been lovingly prepared and assembled, every mirror is washed with a tea for increased psychic clarity and protection made from hand-blended mixture of herbs centering around Mugwort.
