Persephone Wax Melter/Oil Heater

Persephone, fearsome Queen of the Underworld and wise goddess of the spring, ate pomegranate seeds following her abduction by Hades. Having tasted the fruit of the underworld, she was compelled to stay there for several months in a year, for each pomegranate seed she had consumed. Persephone steps into her role as Exacter of Justice and Savior, the one to be called upon when appealing for favor in the Underworld, as Dionysos and Orpheus do in their own respective myths. 

This ceramic wax melter was cleaned and refurbished with pomegranates added by hand to the design to dedicate it to Persephone. To use, place a tea light in the bottom portion and light it in Persephone's honor so it may gently heat the top portion. This upper section can be used to hold wax melts to release their scents. For use with essential oils, fill the top portion 3/4 of the way with water and add drops of your preferred essential oil; as the mixture is heated, the scent of the essential oils will be released as steam. Please never leave a candle burning unattended.

As animists, we find second-hand items have a unique potency when used in altar-crafting. These items, once cherished by their original owners, have since been given up for one reason or another.
