Pocket Demeter Erinys Statue
Pocket Demeter Erinys Statue
Our Pocket Demeter Erinys statue honors an ancient epithet of Demeter's: Erinys, She of Wrath & Fury. This epithet of hers arises from Demeter's Arcadian cult. In this form, she is assaulted by Poseidon and eventually gives birth to either Arion (a horse god) or Despoine (a goddess of mysteries). In this aspect, Demeter is irrevocably tied to the symbol of the horse, which represented the righteous fury of the wronged who achieves justice. In this epithet, she was depicted with a horse's head for that reason. In this aspect, Demeter was the goddess who ensured wrongdoers met a just fate. She's depicted here with her horse's head, nestled inside an alcove with righteous snakes (like those that crown the Furies and Gorgons) twining up the alcove frame and around her head. In her hands, spread across the bottom are two of her symbols in this aspect: the dove and the dolphin. These are symbols of her Arcadian worship, found in a description of an ancient Arcadian statue that has now been lost to time. This original design was hand-carved by us before being casted in genuine natural materials using the same process as most pagan statuary.
We have the following statuary materials available:
- Bonded iron oxide
- Bonded charcoal
Each statue is hand-painted with black, gold, and/or red to highlight her features. This statue measures 2x1.5x0.25 inches and can fit comfortably in a hand during meditation or a pocket while going about your day.
