The Thread and Crown - Ariadne's Rosary

The Thread and the Crown rosary is handcrafted in devotion to Ariadne, the Keeper of the Labyrinth. This rosary is made with sections of 5 rose quartz beads separated by prism-like glass rondelle beads, all strung on shimmering silver-tone chain. It features a silver-tone cross piece shaped like a knot of thread and a silver teardrop-shaped pendant featuring the symbol of the Labyrinth she guarded. This rosary features rose quartz for its association with love and the rose itself, a symbol of death and rebirth. The rose quartz beads are in sections of 5, a number associated with Dionysos, Ariadne’s husband, and Aphrodite, who she is sometimes worshiped alongside. Prism-like glass beads are a representation of the jewels of her crown which was thrown into the sky and became the constellation Corona Borealis.The cross-piece is a knot of thread,  representing her role as the Keeper of the Labyrinth who helped Theseus navigate the maze. The pendant is shaped like a teardrop and features the Labyrinth Ariadne guarded, representing both the Labyrinth itself and the tears she shed when abandoned by Theseus on the island Naxos. 

The section of this rosary that fits over the head to be worn around the neck is 26 inches in length to cross piece, while the vertical hanging section drops 7.75 inches from the top of the cross piece. 

There are a variety of metals included in this piece, including: lead and nickel free silver-tone alloy, as well as silver-plated iron and brass. These metals can tarnish with use, though this can be avoided with care. To avoid tarnishing, avoid contact with liquids whenever possible and let any cosmetics, lotions, or perfumes/colognes dry completely before putting on your necklace. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Keeping your jewelry in a sealed container, such as a jewelry box or plastic bag, can prevent tarnishing by limiting exposure to air, sunlight, heat, and moisture. This is best done if air is pushed out of any plastic bag before sealing and with something included to remove moisture, such as a silica pack or anti-tarnish strip. This is not an exhaustive list of anti-tarnish measures, nor are these measures a guarantee that tarnishing will not occur when worn.
